Wakool
70 MINUTES FROM ECHUCA MOAMA.
This quiet township is nestled amongst picturesque rivers and creeks.
It is home to a warm and welcoming services club and the Wakool Hotel, which is a renowned ‘stop-over’ for travellers through the area. It is also well known for its annual community-run events including the Wakool Fishing Classic and the Wakool Sheep Races, known as ‘The Melbourne Cup of the Bush’.
The Wakool area is a superb spot to head out fishing as the Edwards, Niemur and Wakool rivers are all in close proximity. There are also a number of significant creeks that run via the town which are great places to fish for Murray Cod, golden perch (yellow belly), silver fish (bream), redfin (English perch), freshwater Murray Crayfish and yabbies.
